Girl Scout Brownie Troop 52970 (Woodbury Service Unit) created and performed a puppet skit as part of a presentation for staff at their school (Harambee Environmental Science and Community Cultures School in Maplewood). They asked that the school implement the Aveda Cap Recycling program on a permanent basis. They want to educate students and families about what is happening with caps that end up in landfills, rivers, and oceans. They will use designated proceeds from Cookies 4 a Change to create a display and collection bin in the school lobby. The girls are also preparing an interactive display for the upcoming school science fair as an effort to spread the word to everyone. Their presentation was a hit with staff and their proposal has been approved.

Girl Scout Brownie Troop 13433, Elm Creek second graders, attended the River Valleys event “You Snow Girl!” on Saturday, January 31 at Camp Greenwood. They had a fabulous time snowshoeing, sledding, animal tacking, building snowmen, and playing indoor games. Shown above: the girls discover the great outdoors while looking for animal tracks on snowshoe, rest on a log while snowshoeing, and connect with each other in a tent.

On Saturday, October 10, the Campus Girl Scouts from the University of Wisconsin- River Falls, held a workshop to help girls earn their Horse Lover Badge. A morning session for Girl Scout Brownies (and a few Girl Scout Daisies, too) focused on horse care, breed identification, and even a new twist on the song “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.”
.
The afternoon session also focused on skill for the older girls, Girl Scout Juniors and Cadettes. They also learned care of the horse, parts of the saddle, and more. At one of the stations the girls learned how to saddle a horse. Not having enough horses for all, they practiced with pony saddles, using each other as the ponies.
.
All the girls spent some time riding on “Shrek” the horse.
.
The Campus Girl Scouts planned and carried out all the activities, with the help of the Block and Bridle club.
Mound 2nd Grade Brownie Troop 12415 recently visited the Golden Valley branch of the Greater West Metro Animal Humane Society (AHS). The girls prepared for the visit by using $100 in cookie funds and cash donations to shop for and purchase pet foods, toys, and other needed items for the AHS. On April 14 the girls presented the donations to the AHS and toured the Golden Valley facility.
