The Girl Scouts of Troop 21305 chose several charitable ways to use their cookie proceeds. They  donated $0.02 per box sold to a local food shelf, which amounted to $60. They also sent donations to the residents of the apartment fire in Montgomery, Minn., where one girl’s mom was living. All residents of the building were displaced. Additionally, the girls chose to send cookies to soldiers — particularly, Lieutenant Colonel Brian Pfarr, older brother of one of their classmates.

The girls received the following letter of thanks:

surgery_gift2

I want to thank two very thoughtful young ladies and their families from Troop 50297: Miss Anna and Miss Dana.
.
I underwent surgery on October 16, and  Anna and Dana informed their mothers that they would like to do something for me and my family after surgery.
.
So the plans were underway: A wonderful meal was planned – spaghetti, salad, bread sticks,  dessert (cookies and cream cake made by the girls themselves), and a wonderful breakfast bread!
.
They also brought a cozy blanket and magazines. And it was all arranged in a beautiful basket with seasonal gourds for decoration.
.
They girls stopped by one evening with a handmade card and their basket. I was amazed at the thought the girls put into this basket and their big hearts for wanting to help me out.
.
My surgery put me on restrictions for six weeks; the first two weeks I was not supposed to even lift a gallon of milk, so the thought of not having to plan or cook dinner was so greatly appreciated!
.
Girls such as Dana and Anna are a godsend!
.
I just wanted to recognize them for their thoughtfulness and generosity and their service to our community.
.
Sincerely,
Michele Kroska
